Bloomsbury Festival

Just when I thought festival season was over and the outdoor activity was fizzling out until bonfire night, Bloomsbury has gone and got me all excited. With such a rich history, there’s plenty of culture to celebrate in the worlds of art, music and literature; previously, legendary authors such as Virginia Woolf, T.S. Eliot and Charles Dickens have called it home It all kicks off tonight with a procession of lanterns through Russell Square gardens, which will look quite magical against the pretty setting of grass and trees. Whether you’re planning to get involved or you’d just like to watch, make sure you get a minicab to Bloomsbury before the fun starts!

In total, there will be about 150 events taking place over the weekend at venues and open spaces across the Bloomsbury area. It’s run by a small production company called ‘Hidden Cities’; it was started when the two founders met at the 2006 Bloomsbury Festival. It goes to show what great things can happen when creative, innovative minds get together!

Us Brits love our Sunday lunch, and this event means we can all get together to do it in style. Head over to Lamb’s Conduit Street between 1-7pm on 23rd October for the ‘Big Sunday Lunch’ street party. There’ll be food available from stalls, local restaurants and The People’s Supermarket so you certainly won’t be short of choices! Even the fussiest kids (and grown-ups) will find something they like to eat.

If you have an interest in all things artistic, or even if you just have nothing fun to do this weekend and want to stave off the boredom, this could be just what you’re looking for. You can check out the website in advance to see if any events appeal to you; otherwise, just have a mosey around!
